It's A Dangerous World Out There

About Me

It's A Dangerous World Out There

When I got in to the tow truck business, I thought that my days would be filed with being out in the open air and meeting interesting people. Little did I know that every day would present serious safety challenges. As cars travel too closely and roads remain slick, it is all I can do to pull stranded motorists out of ditches to safety. I have had more than one close call, and unfortunately, I have lost a few friends out there. My personal goal is to spread the word about the dangers of tow truck driving, so that everyone can remain safe on the road.

Signs You Should Call A Towing Company

Having to call a towing company may not cross your mind until your car develops problems. Surprisingly, some drivers may ignore car problems and continue with their journey. You may get away with it, but that isn't the way to go. Enlist the help of a towing company as soon as you notice these signs.

Changes in Handling

If you are used to driving your vehicle, it's easy to tell when the handling is off. Unfortunately, changes in handling can be quite dangerous because you can easily cause an accident. So, if you feel that the steering is off or something is wrong with the tires, just put your car in park and request towing services.

You Have Run Out of Fuel

Running out of fuel in a remote place is rare, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. If it does happen, you have to figure out how you will get gas. While you may not have many options, you can call a towing company. The company can bring gas to you or tow your vehicle to the nearest gas station.

Unusual Noises

If you can hear weird noises coming from your car, pull over and find out the source. Some noises could mean that a major part of your car has malfunctioned. In most cases, look out for noises that sound like an explosion or bang. Any noises that sound annoying should prompt you to call for towing services. Don't take any chances if you can't explain the source of the noise.

Brake Failure

You should treat brake failure with the seriousness it deserves. Although brake failure happens unexpectedly, you should manage the situation calmly until the car comes to a halt. You can even apply the emergency brake if the need arises. Once you have done that, call a towing company to haul your car to the nearest garage. The mechanic will repair the brakes, and you can get back on the road safely.

Warning Lights

Dashboard warning lights can save you a lot of trouble. If one of the warning lights stays on after turning on the car, something could be wrong. Sometimes the lights will be displayed when you are on the road. Some warning lights you should take seriously include:

  • Brake warning lights
  • Engine warning lights
  • Oil pressure warning lights
  • Temperature warning light

You shouldn't ignore these warning lights as you may damage your car. Instead, call a mechanic or a tow truck company to help you haul the vehicle to the nearest garage.
