It's A Dangerous World Out There

When I got in to the tow truck business, I thought that my days would be filed with being out in the open air and meeting interesting people. Little did I know that every day would present serious safety challenges. As cars travel too closely and roads remain slick, it is all I can do to pull stranded motorists out of ditches to safety. I have had more than one close call, and unfortunately, I have lost a few friends out there. My personal goal is to spread the word about the dangers of tow truck driving, so that everyone can remain safe on the road.

The Information You Need Before Calling A Towing Company

A towing company can provide you with a large variety of different assistance when your vehicle is not working right. When you need to call a towing company for some roadside assistance, you need to make sure that you know what information to provide them with so that you can get the assistance you need. There is some important information you need to give them.

Information #1: Your Location

The first thing you need to do is provide the towing company with your location. The more precise your location, the better. If you have a phone or a GPS device in your vehicle, you are going to need to turn it on to get your exact location. If you can't find your location from your phone or your GPS, describe your location as precise as you can. You are going to want to let them know about the nearest intersection or the nearest mile marker and exit if you break down on the freeway.

Information #2: Vehicle Information

The second thing that you are going to have to provide the towing company with is your vehicle information.

First, you will need to know the make and model of your vehicle, as well as the color of your vehicle. This is just basic information that you should have.

Second, you need to share information about the condition of your vehicle. For example, do you have a flat tire? Did you get into an accident? If so, what type of damage did your vehicle sustain? The more details you provide about the condition of your vehicle, the better the service that the towing service will be able to provide you with.

If your vehicle is seriously damaged, you are going to want to let the tow company know so that they can send out a flatbed truck for your vehicle.

Information #3: Insurance Details Or Roadside Assistance Details

If your insurance provides covers roadside assistance, you are going to need to have your insurance information available. You will need to know who your insurance provider is, as well as your policy number. With some insurance companies, you need to call your insurance company and have them connect you with a tow truck company. With other roadside assistance programs, you can call a tow company and then have them bill your roadside assistance program.

When you call a tow truck company, you need to know where you are at, you need to have vehicle information ready, and you need your insurance or roadside assistance details.
